Lead Course - Day 2

The Lead Course is designed to teach lead climbing in the climbing gym environment but does not prepare for the variables encountered in outdoor lead climbing. Day 1 of the course introduces lead climbing concepts.

Lead Lesson requirements:

• Certified top rope belayers
• Climbing and belay assessment is ongoing throughout the course
  • A partner with maximum 35% weight difference
  • Your weight x 1.35 = maximum weight of partner
• An Edelrid OHM if weight difference is exceeded
• Dynamic climbing rope (at least 25m)\
• A GriGri by Petzl or a LifeGuard by Mad Rock
• A locking carabiner (cross loading prevention recommended)
• Day 2 must be completed within 30 days of Day 1*

Lead Lesson info:

• 2 sessions, 3-3.5 hours each which will prepare you for lead climbing indoors.
• Instructors are ACMG (Association of Canadian Mountain Guides) certified
• GOLD members receive 20% off
• Other participants receive a 2 week membership with access to both locations
• Membership starts the same day as day 1 of the Lead Course, or is added to end of an existing membership
• Lead test is scheduled after the completion of the course at no charge - cannot be scheduled on the same day as Day 2

Participants must be at least 14 years of age
Participants under 18 must have a waiver form signed by a parent or legal guardian

*To maintain the integrity of the course, participant learning, and safety, participants must have a minimum of 3 days of practice and a maximum of 30 days between Day 1 and 2; otherwise the participant must forfeit their course fee. It is recommended to book Day 2 at the end of your Day 1 class.
